Given to me by bsg_aussiegirl

Rutger Hauer: Soldaat van Oranje translated, Soldier of Orange. The best Dutch movie of all times. Back in the time when they still had fun fighting World War II, none of the dark realistic stuff they film nowadays. Based on a true story, and what a story it is. I love how regular people turn out to be great heroes in the right ( Read more... )

I love how I'm not the only romantic sappy one around here. And I also love how I'm not the only one who's indecisive on which movies to choose.

Being romantic and sappy is nothing to be ashamed of..... I hope??? At least I didn't pick Titanic for Kate Winslet - lol!

Oh I've not seen solider of orange. I'll be sure to try and watch that. I'd totally forgotten that Emma Thompson was in I am Legend. That was great.

Soldier of Orange is a movie by Paul Verhoeven which was filmed in 1977. Only to see what Rutger Hauer and Jeroen Krabbé looked like when they were young is reason enough to watch. I think they're making a musical of it now, this makes me feel the same way as I feel about the DWW musical...

Emma Thompson was great, I love it when actors do stuff like that.

Oh, I bet he was very cute back then! I loved him so much in Ladyhawke and Bladerunner.

Paul Verhoeven really? He's made some of the worst movies ever made! Some of which in a so bad they're good kinda way (showgirls total recall) some in just a so bad all copies should be burned (starship troopers)

I used to have drag queen friends that would regularly do scenes out of showgirls. That was priceless.

Here's a scene with Derek de Lint, judge for yourself how cute he was.

He's made some of the worst movies ever made!

I know, I think Showgirls is definitly one of the best examples of those. It did become a huge cult hit though, I have watched it many times too. Maybe that say's something about the quality of movies my country produces.

Hee, Judi Dench is one of the few good things about P&P the film. She manages to steal the show in even the smallest of roles. I also loved her as Queen Elizabeth in Shakespeare in Love.

I haven't even heard of the film Soldaat of Oranje. I am properly ashamed now.

I know Judi Dench is great, I think I love everything she does, even all the James Bond stuff.

I haven't even heard of the film Soldaat of Oranje. I am properly ashamed now.

It's a very Dutch movie, but it's really fun to watch. It was filmed in 1977 and it's old of course, but not outdated. I love how in Dutch movies you always see the same actors, and these actors all still act. Rutger Hauer, Derek de Lint and Jeroen Krabbé havn't changed a bit since then.

Even Woman Undone?

I'm really sorry to admit this, I totally fail at being a Mary fangirl. I never saw Woman Undone *shifty eyes*

I saw that at today's me_chat post a lot of people came up with Woman Undone, does makes me want to see it though...

I just looked it up on IMBD and the synopsis isn't the best sales pitch either.

But then again I think every actor/actress has a movie which sucks.

You're absolutely right, we could do this exact same meme backwards and list the worst movie of every actor/actress.

That gif is totally made of win! Zoolander is undoubtably the best in it's genre.

Do you realize Derek was going through a quaterlife crisis?

Have you ever wondered if there was more to life, other than being really, really, ridiculously good looking?

He solved it by doing good stuff for kids:

So join now, 'cause at the Derek Zoolander Center For Kids Who Can't Read Good And Wanna Learn To Do Other Stuff Good Too, we teach you that there's more to life than just being really, really, really good looking. Right kids?
