A couple of weeks ago I borrowed my brothers TOS dvd box. I was quite curious to see it now I've seen the reimagined series. And now I've finally recovered the remote of the dvd player, this was the time. I remember seeing the series when I was a child, so that makes it kind of nostalgic to rewatch. I just finished seeing the first two episodes,

The names all seemed nuts to me! I blame it on being the 70s! But Starbuck was an orphan, so whether he was named that by his parents, or later once he'd developed his "skills" I can't really say.

Yeah, apparently they told him his own colony was to be spared.

I know it was funny the way Everywhere had loads of humans on it. The 13th tribe must have been down to about 5 by the time they finally got to earth for the number of people they'd been dropping off along the way. But then I guess it was more of an interstella society filled with habitable planets and aliens. Though they really don't understand the difference between star system and galaxy, the writers seem to use them interchangably.

To be fair they did that in the new show too, with Starbuck and Apollo doing lots more than just simply being pilots, security etc. It really is funny. The things that were changed and the things left the same. It's like Adama was split into two people, one the military leader and one the spiritual leader. In the old show he was very much the patriarch of the tribe, a moses figure bringing the people home. Where that moved onto Laura in the new show, and you have Laura saying a lot of the same things that Adama did in the original (though she's using them to convince adama which is quite funny).

Did they say which colony he was from? I'm now assuming he's not a Caprican like 'our' Gaius.

Yeah, it always struck me as a bit strange that they had to go to the Astral Queen and Cloud Nine to help out. And later with the Gideon incident Tigh gets criticized for sending pilots on a croud control mission, while Adama send pilots off to do a lot of other stuff as well. Poor Saul, it's so unfair that in his case it didn't work out - lol. I do think it works well that they seperated the military leader and spiritual leader, although it's interesting to see how those two roles kan conflict if they're incorporated in one person.

But sometimes it's also a bit slow. There seems to be a lot of time for everything. Apollo and Adama have time to take a viper back to Caprica to visit their home and see if mrs. Adama made it. Apparently mrs. Adama's the only one in the family that doesn't live on the galactica.

They did but I'm afraid I can't remember! No he wasn't from Caprica.

Yeah, it is kinda funny that the whole family (minus mom!) was on the same battlestar! She must have felt really left out! I think as they do more one part episodes it gets less dragged out. But I thought that part was sad! ;)

Just checked the battlestar wiki, it said that Baltar was from Picon.

And it's sad that the wife wasn't with Adama, it's not like there isn't any space on the damn battlestar. I'm wondering if Adama spend a lot of time planetside, since he was also a member of the council of twelve, otherwise it's really sad for mom to be living alone in her Caprican villa and the rest of the family away for months at the time. Or she must have had a really goodlooking pool guy - lol.
