EDIT: I'm probably not going to be updating this journal anymore. But the URL below is my new journal.
Upon feeling an urge to tinker this morning, I decided to look into some available blogging software. Little did I know that Purdue's home directory supported php, and let you set up your own blog software on it! I then showed Randy how to do the same.
A few chmod commands later (yay for understanding unix), here's the result:
http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~ajgore/blog I'll probably keep the LJ around, though the possibilities of dedicated blogging software are very cool...especially since the software supports multiple users, and RSS feeds. Upon hearing the recent announcement that AdBlock is now banned by LiveJournal, and my not liking the idea of sponsored accounts (if ads traverse down to the free account, I won't like it at all...), its good that there's an alternative.
Theoretically, with multiple users, creating an LJ-like site is one large hard drive and apache install away...very interesting possibilities.
