Vishnu sir, Goodbye!
A sad day for Vishnu's fans.
Vishnuvardhan died today of a cardiac arrest.
My most memorable Kannada movies have been Vishnuvardhan's. Starting from Bandhana, Suprabhata, Hombisilu, Sahasasimha, to his recent Aapthamitra, not to mention his zillion movies with Dwarkeesh.
In many ways, Vishnuvardhan surpassed Dr. Raj in his own genre. Nobody can compete with Dr. Raj in historicals or even mythological movies. But come to a more realistic, common man's cinema, Vishnuvardhan rules the roost. Of late, he was seen playing a hero to actresses less than half his age, and then I thought, Vishnuvardhan is just spoiling himself. He can still demand a role of a veteran hero, similar to what Amitabh Bachchan does today in Bollywood.
