Major Policy Change for Obama, Nation
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Barack Obama announced a major shift in policy today on the front lawn of the White House. This new policy is an about face from previous policies held by the administration since his election.
"Today, I am charting a new course for America. America wanted change, I promised America change, and today will go down in history as the day I delivered America a true change," Obama said in his address outlining his new policies.
He added, "I have consulted top economic, foreign policy, business, and labor advisers and they have spoken with unity: cut it out!" Obama's new policies revolve around the "cut it out" message.
Outlining the changes he hopes to make, the President says he will:
1: Cut out meddling in the economy. No more bailouts, no more endless borrowing for government spending, and no more government guarantees for loans, banks, retirement programs, medical expenses, education, or anything else. From now on, the economy is entirely up to the people.
2: Cut out meddling in foreign policy. No more endless wars all across the world, no more propping up some nations and sanctioning others, and no more unfair trade agreements. People who want to help foreign nations or trade with foreign people can simply do that on their own now.
3: Cut out meddling in business. No more onerous regulations, no more awarding huge government contracts to companies who pander to politicians, and no more firing CEO's who don't do things the way the government wants. Business can focus on their business instead of spending all their time on regulatory compliance and worrying whether Washington politicians will take their jobs.
4: Cut out meddling in labor. No more of the cycle of administrations favoring business, then labor, then business, no more propping up labor unions with laws that force businesses to accept them, and no more protecting businesses from workers who are treated so poorly that they organize and strike. Unions won't have to worry any more if a judge will force them back to work or tell them what they can say, when, and where.
"Today, the United States has heard the cries of the world to cut it out and that's exactly what we're going to do. The economy, foreign nations, businesses, and labor are on their own now. This new policy lets the chips fall where they may, only intervening if someone takes action to harm someone else," the President said.
Though his message was well received, there were some naysayers at the lunch-time press conference. "I was initially quite pleased," said Maude Hurd, President of ACORN, "until I heard that the President amended us right out of his new budget proposal. Now I'm furious. This isn't reform, it's robbery! All Americans should be furious at this new pro-... pro-... pro-evil agenda!"
Others were more positive. Joe the Plumber said, "This is what I had in mind all along. These government people think they're way too important. I'm glad they're just going to cut it out so I can get back to work."
There was no indication from the President as to what the fallout from these policy changes might be. This insurgency of anarchy could cause a wave of terror that may bring America to its knees. When asked about this, the President simply replied, "cut it out!"
