i get asked why i'm a vegatarian a lot, people make fun of me but whatever. i deal. i'm a vegatarian because i like animals and because its much healthier. everyone always says "but its so expensive", well....so is triple bypass heart surgery but i dont see people saying "OH its so expensive, ill just die instead!" with being a vegatarian i have a far lesser chance of ever needing a surgery like that. and personally the cost of the healthier food is worth that guarantee. besides, i look at my loveable affectionate pets and think "what if some asshole came in here, took them away, shoved them in cages, tortured them, starved them, injected them with hormones and then mercilessly cut them up and fed them to fat disgusting human beings?" i would feel quite depressed and upset. i, of course, am not saying that people who eat meat are fat disgusting human beings, i dont care what everyone else is doing, i'm just getting a little annoyed that people poke fun at me about being a vegatarian. i was bored today while waiting for my mom to get back so i looked up some quotes (one of my favorite things to do!) and found these!
if you dont like animals or find this kind of thing cheesy then dont read it dears!
Animals are my friends... and I don't eat my friends.
George Bernard Shaw
A man can live and be healthy without killing animals for food; therefore, if he eats meat, he participates in taking animal life merely for the sake of his appetite.
Leo Tolstoy
Ever occur to you why some of us can be this much concerned with animals suffering? Because government is not. Why not? Animals don't vote.
Paul Harvey
The ages of seven to eleven is a huge chunk of life, full of dulling and forgetting. It is fabled that we slowly lose the gift of speech with animals, that birds no longer visit our windowsills to converse. As our eyes grow accustomed to sight they armour themselves against wonder.
-Leonard Cohen
People always joke that "dog" spells "god" backwards. They should consider that it might be the higher power coming down to see just how well they do, what kind of people they are. The animals are right here, right in front of us. And how we treat these companions is a test.
Linda Blair
All of the animals except for man know that the principle business of life is to enjoy it.
Samuel Butler
Animals, whom we have made our slaves, we do not like to consider our equal.
Charles Darwin
Some people are uncomfortable with the idea that humans belong to the same class of animals as cats and cows and raccoons. They're like the people who become successful and then don't want to be reminded of the old neighborhood.
Phil Donahue
Animals are such agreeable friends - they ask no questions; they pass no criticisms.
George Eliot
Wild animals never kill for sport. Man is the only one to whom the torture and death of his fellow creatures is amusing in itself.
James Anthony Froude
The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated.
Mohandas Gandhi
The most important thing is to preserve the world we live in. Unless people understand and learn about our world, habitats, and animals, they won't understand that if we don't protect those habitats, we'll eventually destroy ourselves.
Jack Hanna
Nothing to be done really about animals. Anything you do looks foolish. The answer isn't in us. It's almost as if we're put here on earth to show how silly they aren't.
Russell Hoban
It is inexcusable for scientists to torture animals; let them make their experiments on journalists and politicians.
Henrik Ibsen
I am not interested to know whether vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't... The pain which it inflicts upon unconsenting animals is the basis of my enmity toward it, and it is to me sufficient justification of the enmity without looking further.
Mark Twain
The animals of the world exist for their own reasons. They were not made for humans any more than black people were made for white, or women created for men.
Alice Walker
