(no subject)
Almost a month out, I've started decorating for Merrick's birthday party.
The beaded curtain is up. Now, this is up in the passthrough from the hallway that links the kitchen/living room/dining room to the rest of the house. This means that we duck a bit to avoid it when walking back to the office/bedrooms, where we spend 90% of our time. So it'll be up a month. When it comes down, Merrick will spend about a week ducking to avoid the then-not-there curtain. This always makes me giggle.
In other news, at this time tomorrow, I'll be at the dentist, heavily drugged, having my last few upper teeth removed. Now, I'm having some http://www.drankbeverage.com/ and then very much bed when it hits. Valium tonight at midnight, then Dad drives me in to the dentist where they drug the crap out of me, and I come home with pretty new teeth. Excited, but nervous and scared. On the VERY off chance that we get a decent pic of me with my new teeth, I'll post it. (NOT likely.) Not sure how stoned the valium will make me, but fortunately, some very awesome coworkers have volunteered to drive me home if I'm too stoned to drive.
I broke one of my favorite canes (the light sabre) over a pretty girl's ass. This makes me sad. Fortunately, it won't be that expensive to replace. UNfortunately, our finances are spoken for mostly until Halloween, which is when Bellana's Halloween Shopping (TM) takes over. My teeth, then Merrick's teeth, then my glasses, then new glasses for him. With his birthday party in a month. But his party will be *EPIC*. Oh, and Highland's War. We'll be home for that War, which is always a nice break. It's REALLY nice to just show up at a War, set up my tent, and then report to someone and say, "What do you need me to do," as opposed to convincing folks to help me set up my tent while directing things. "Home" isn't so much a "where I belong" thing, as it's a "where I grew up" thing, and I can still defer to people and not have to run the show. It's a really nice break that I enjoy. Don't get me wrong. I love my kids more than I could say, and I'm SO proud of them. But the luxury of being able to not be in charge is a lovely vacation, on rare occasion.
Though, when my drink is empty, I miss having my own minion to send to refill it. ;)
I was gonna try to do more decor/cleaning today, but the Drank is awesome, so very shortly, it is bedtime for teh Bellana.
