Webinar, New Releases and Magical Words
I'm putting the final touches on my upcoming webinar for Writer's Digest on writing Science Fiction, Fantasy and Paranormal. I've put a ton of work into it, and I think it's going to be great. Each registration comes with access to the archived version of the program and the materials for 1 year. You do not have to attend the live event to get a recording of the presentation or ask the presenter questions. In all WD webinars, no question goes unanswered. Attendees have the ability to chat the instructor during the live event and ask questions. You will receive a copy of the webinar presentation in an email thank you message that goes out one week after the live event. The answers to questions not covered in the live presentation will be included in this email as well.
About the Webinar Critique
Following the event, all registrants are invited to submit their story pitch to instructor Lucienne Diver for a critique. Pitches should be 50-200 words, like pitches found in query letters. Lucienne may ask to see pages from any pitches she enjoys.
Description
This webinar, taught by a literary agent who also writes paranormal, will discuss building rich and resonant worlds and cultures using an anthropological systems approach; developing protagonists and antagonists; and unique magic systems, complete with rules and restrictions. We'll also go over plot building, both in terms of stand-alone novels and series development.
The discussion will also cover idea generation and how to take the rocky road to originality rather than the easy path to ideas that have gone before and what makes a concept or creation truly unique.
