Please forgive my subject line. I will admit to a certain fondness for alliteration. Oh sure, I've watered it down, but it's a part of a fine tradition, well utilized in epic stories told in verse. Can you tell I was an English major?
Anyway, the debut novel I'm about to present the trailer for really is dreamy:
HOW TO MARRY A DUKE by Vicky Dreiling, forthcoming on January 3, 2011 from
Warner Forever.

You've already heard a lot here about my 2010 debut author,
N.K. Jemisin, but in case you've missed it, her THE HUNDRED THOUSAND KINGDOMS and THE BROKEN KINGDOMS have been burning up Best Of lists far and wide. The third book in her
Inheritance Trilogy, THE KINGDOM OF GODS, will be out in 2011.
While I'm on the subject of debuts, which I list partly to celebrate my authors, who I'm so excessively proud of, and partly to show all querying and aspiring authors how very excited agents get about debuts as well as our established writers, I want to mention a couple more.
While
Kalayna Price isn't exactly a newbie to publishing (her
Haven series began in 2009 with Bell Bridge Books), she made her major house debut in October this year with her acclaimed urban fantasy
GRAVE WITCH and will continue it in 2011 with GRAVE DANCE (both with Roc Books).
Also, established author
Steven Piziks, who also writes as Steven Harper, added a third identity to his bio this year. He's also Penny Drake, the author of
TRASH COURSE, which came out in October of this year from Carina Press and will be available for audio download from Audible.com beginning tomorrow.
Last year, 2009, saw some other awesome debuts. Specifically, I'm talking here about
Chloe Neill (author of the
Chicagoland Vampires series from NAL and the
Dark Elite series from Berkley JAM) and
Diana Orgain (author of the Maternal Instincts mysteries from Berkley Prime Crime). In addition, it saw the inception of the Daring Finds mystery series by "Elise Hyatt," aka
Sarah A. Hoyt, from Prime Crime. So much to celebrate. And, since 'tis the season, I'm taking this opportunity!
