Hello! Today was the first time I had a chance to get online since I last posted!
I've been very very very busy with orientation, the schedual has been extremely hectic with very few brakes. We've usually had some free time at the evenings after everything has been done and sometimes got some beers and had a nice and very sociable drink round a campfire in the parking lot!
On Thursday night four friends and I decided to go out to the Walmart to check it out, we'd never been before and it should have been a forty-five minute drive but was longer as we weren't 100% of where we were going... furthermore we got hopelessly lost on the way back trying to find Orson and only got back to camp at 6am!!! EEEEP!
Well, it was a very memorable experience anyway, and we've decided to comemorate it by writing a song called "Orson Around" ... haha!
The food ranges from very good to very crap but there is always a salad bar and lots of fruit so I'm kept happy and have been eating well in general.
This week a lot of time was spent setting up "Rock Shop," painting, moving equipment out of storage and setting it up, etc. We also jammed quite a lot, some of it preparing a song to perform to the kids who arrive tomorrow!
"Hey Ya" by Outkast... so I get to play the really silly keyboard part in it and it's great fun because we have like a 10 piece ensemble or something! (Guitar, Guitar, Bass Guitar, Upright Bass, Drums, Keyboards, Vocals, Percussion+Backing Vocals x3)
I'm trying to convince the camp directors to get a synthesiser called a "Nord Lead 2" as I think having such equipment would really encourage more kids to try their hand at keyboard as you can get a lot of sound out of it even at a beginners level.
The recently bought A LOT of new guitars and 2 drum kits so I think it's fair, although in the past less campers have taken keyboard... maybe I could help change that.
More news soon. :)
