Local power is the key
to a healthy democracy
WE are taught to hold up our
society as a grand achievement of
democracy but to me it seems more
and more that people have less and
less say over their lives.
What power is one vote every five
years when we are merely observers
to the interim? Paliamentary
politics is something like a shallow
popularity contest or slagging
match, where grown men argue
about problems instead of solving
them. Real democracy would entail
people getting together on a local
level and making decisions as to
how their communities shall be run.
Give people control of their lives.

Still ain't won letter of the day yet tho :(
Maybe only topical entries win...
