Yesterday Wendy and I were going to have lunch with Jamie, but the weather didn't want to cooperate, so we postponed until Tuesday. The skies finally stopped falling, though, and we went to my friend Pedro's house for dinner, where Pedro and I killed some vodka and at least four bottles of wine. So we decided to spend the night. And we almost did.
Wendy is at that point in her pregnancy where it's hard for her to sleep on her back or her stomach, so she has to sleep on her side. Last night she couldn't get comfortable, and after tossing and turning until 2am, she finally got up and told me that she was going home. I briefly entertained the thought that this meant I would finally get some shut-eye (The tossing and turning had been keeping me up, as well) but then I realized that I couldn't let her drive home alone, so off we went. We didn't get to bed until after 3am, but at least we slept after that. And she's still sleeping, which on some petty level irritates me because no matter when I go to sleep, I almost invariably wake up before 8am, and she can sleep like a log until she decides to get up. But I'm glad she's finally getting some rest. As for me, I'm going to work on ripping CDs to my hard drive for archival purposes only until Wendy gets up.
