"If you're going to do something do it," she challeneged as he paced around her. He was so much younger, so much stronger, so much scarier--she was so very much jealous. He watched her, made a noncommittal noise, tilted his head...and then the darkness took her. Swallowed her up whole. It seeped from the floor, it dripped from the ceiling, it bled from the air...it crawled from her pores.
And it ate her. She didn't remember much later what had happened. Clawing at her skin--bloody nails, ragged flesh, make it stop, make it stop---
It's just a game. And she saw light in the darkness or was it darkness in the darkness? There was no light there--just pits of everblack that sucked her in like a monster's maw, like mako in her veins--like his soul tearing right through her, like the Planet discarding its blessed child, back, back monster, demon, you are none of my flesh, beast, filth, BACK--
When she came too she was bleeding her life away on the floor and the doctors--scientists--were all around her, poking, pinching, prodding. And he just stared right back at her with empty eyes--
"Nnngh...good," she mouthed at him. So...good...she was bleeding her life away on the dirty, cold floor and it had been him who caused it, him who had done this to her, him who had--monster, god, beast, so much more than her and she loved it, loved it, loved it, he was filth just like her, damned Planet child and he would kill her--
He acknowledged her with a tilt of his head and it was the first time she'd ever had a crush on anyone. Little Nero of the Sable Hell...
