Okay, I have been noticing (over about the past ten years) how the Holidays have been losing it's meaning by the masses. The old saying "It's the most wonderful time of the year" has lost it's meaning by far. Now is it not only the most stressful and depressing (for some) time of the year, it is also the most "bankable" time of the year.
All of these "day after Christmas" sales and opening up at 5:00am for people who seem to not be able to stay at home...I can say this because I get so little time at home that I would like nothing more than to just have a restful day every now and then, anyway I must get back to the subject at hand.
People lining up outside stores like Target and Walmart. The mindless zombies that they are wandering in aimlessly as they hunt not for fresh human flesh depicted in the George A. Romero zombie films, but rather lookin' for that there day after Christmas dealy yo.
I see what Romero was saying in his opus "Dawn Of The Dead" made in 1979 shortly after Malls were the new big thing. This is the main reason why I started my shopping in early November, because I now how rude and hateful people get (heck they seem to be this way most of the time). Like this year, it is the XBOX 360 that people were waiting outside camping overnight in the cold of winter for. Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! Lemme miss work so I can get that there Xbox 360.
People are so involved in the hustle and bustle of getting extravagent shopping done that they lose sight of what this time of year is supposed to be all about. Just stay the hell at home and read a frickin' book. Or better yet, do you see those two people sitting on the couch across the room from you as you gaze up from the department store advertisements!? That is your family, spend some fuckin' time with them instead of whisking yourself away to Walmart to get that ther Dale Earnhardt wall clock which is on the "it is the shit we can't get rid of sale" and just mellow for once.
The accident on Hospital Curve in Louisville proves that you all need to slow down and and quit trying to drive like hell to get nowhere. I think someone may have been killed last night as this wreck involved at least five cars that I tried not to notice in ruins on my left side. I guess the other drivers could tell you the exact number as they were too busy looking at the wreck and not focusing on the road in front of them.
Life is short and taken for granted, just take time to look around and realize what this time of the year is supposed to represent. How about taking the family out for a nice evening drive to look at all of the decorations that are on display!? You don't need to stop off at the local CVS Pharmacy or Walgreen's because they are savage companies that have no care about their workers or their families. Blockbuster you can just avoid all together as they are just rat bastards and need to close shop and vanish like the band Milli Vanilli.
I am not Mr. Perfect by any means, however I do know how important family is and the meaning of being with them and associating with them. The holidays are NOT all about getting that there new Xbox 360 for super bass fishing, it is about (for the most part) anyway, being thankful for what is called the opportunity to live and family.
Just slow down and look around as this is not always supposed to be "The Hazy Shade Of Winter".
