Im so happy that everything seems to work out fine again. Today I realized instead of taking the TGV straight to Charles De Gaulle Aeroport, I could just take it to Gare Montparnasse, and then catch a 30min frequency Les Cars Air France to the airpot. Im still thinking about whether I want the TGV tickets mailed to me from the Australian rail site and pay more or just collect it in the station in France and face stressful situation surviving on my minimal French. But anyhow, Im so glad I wouldnt have to miss the farewell dinner in Tours or sleep overnight in the airport, tres bien!
Paris' confusing transportation system is also starting to make sense to me slowly. Apparently, it's just like Melbounre's Metro, only a lot larger. It's also divided into zones and charged accordingly. Most of the tourist places in central paris are in zone 1 & 2, while places like CDG are in zone 5. The tickets can be used for buses, metro and RER. One ticket costs 1.6 Euro and last 90 minutes. Most people get it in a pack of 10(a carnet) because it is cheaper and there may be also discounts for youth (jeune) tickets for people under 26. Sadly, the week I arrive is the first Sunday of the month when the museums like the Louvre have free admission, but I'll be too jet-lagged and carrying too much stuff around to visit them. Which means I'll have to go on a day trip to Paris one of the weekends, what a waste:(
So for now all I've got to do is to book my TGV tickets, book my air tickets from Melbourne to Chengdu, and wait for my Chinese VISA to get approved. Hope things will go smoothly from here on.
