First Impressions: Sally Girl connecting single eyeshadows in Brick and Copper

May 24, 2014 00:03

Did you know Sally's Beauty Supply sells eyeshadow? I had no freakin' clue. I didn't even know of the store's existence and when I finally did learn of it, I was afraid they wouldn't have any locations in the great white north. When in actuality, they have a few right in my city, hurray!

Emily of Beauty Broadcast (one of my favourite makeup youtubers) blogged about the Sally Girl eyeshadows and since the shadows were so cheap (less than $1.50 here), I decided to pick some up. I bought Copper and Brick; I wanted to get Cinnamon and Cranberry too but the store didn't seem to have them in stock or even online. Sadface. I'm not sure why I want all the rust-coloured shadows. I'm going through a faze, probably. I do hope it passes soon, I don't look so great in these colours. Ah, who'm I kidding, I wear unflattering colours all the time. I've gone too far down this path; can't turn back now.

I'm surprised by how little dust these eyeshadows kick up. I can get my brush in there and swipe across without worrying too much about powder flying all over the place (I'm looking at you, Kat Von D shadows). While they don't feel as super buttery as, say, Tarina Tarantino shadows, they aren't stiff or difficult to work with. They aren't super pigmented right off the bat but still show up pretty well without primer. They're buildable and blendable. I didn't notice any fallout as I applied them, which is pretty impressive. I can't yet comment on the wear time but I'm hopeful they'll perform reasonably well on top of primer.
