Day 2 of trying Meaningful Beauty

Apr 27, 2014 00:03

Good lord, I need to start writing these earlier in the day.

I forgot to mention yesterday that the Creme de Serum has a stereotypical perfume-like scent.

This is how I used the Meaningful Beauty line this morning:

I washed my face with the cleanser, this time applying it first to my dry skin. Honestly, I'm not crazy about the texture. The booklet says to use a small amount but I feel a small amount doesn't actually get my entire face and neck. Cleansing done, I used a cotton pad to dry off and applied my Andalou toner so as to keep it consistent with yesterday.

I applied the eye cream, then spot-treated with tea tree oil. The provided "cheat sheet" that came with the kit recommends using the eye cream after cleansing and moisturising but I don't like doing that because I tend to treat before applying moisturiser and many of the things I need to use to treat whatever ails me, such as rashes and acne, are quite harsh. I don't want to have to wash my hands right before touching my eyes; I think it's more efficient to start off with the eyes when your hands are still clean.

I waited for the oil to dry a bit before applying two pumps of the Glowing Serum. Like the Creme de Serum, this also has as perfumey scent though not as prominent. Glowing Serum lacks the silky/plasticky dimethicone feel that Creme de Serum has and therefore feels more like a tradition lotion-type serum. I let that set for about fifteen seconds, then applied the Day Creme. Both the Glowing Serum and the Day Creme stung my skin somewhat upon application, which annoyed me. However, they didn't have the same sort of on-and-off itchiness like last night. Since the Day Creme contains dimethicone, the end result is similar to the Creme de Serum.

Remember those dry spots on my face that I had mentioned in the last post? They were still there when I woke up this morning. One really bad one in particular, right above my lip, had been flaking. Well, while the whole routine this morning made my face seem smoother, I still had to touch up the rough spots around my mouth with Everyone Lotion, and the flaking area is still flaking, though a bit less. I did a second touch-up halfway through the day in the same areas. The rough areas continue being rough, yet they are also oddly smooth, I guess in the same way a silicone face primer would make my face feel oddly smooth yet not actually hydrated. I don't know, is this like cheating? Tiny, mysterious, and sometimes itchy bumps have been appearing and disappearing on my left cheek all day.

I want to point out that one of the main moisture-booster ingredients touted in the Creme de Serum during the tv ad was sodium hyaluronate. If you're looking to try out a sodium hyaluronate product but are sensitive to dimethicone, you might want to take a look at Indeed Labs Hydraluron. It's 30mL (1 fl. oz.) for around $20 and doesn't contain fragrances. Technically, the Meaningful Beauty 30-day starter kit I got has better value, but that depends on whether you like all the items.
