half-LOTR bastardchild

Okay, so visiting albino_minako this weekend, she had me watch the animated Lord of the Rings.

SPOILER ALERT!

So, anyways...2 hours into this thing, right when there's the big battle at Helms Deep...the plot is picking up...Frodo and Sam are getting near the Shelob section of the story (I was waiting for this..i love that damned spider)...Gandalf rides into the battle at helm's deep...throws his sword into the air...and the narrator explains that the forces of evil never again entered middle earth..and the credits rolled. So, when you run out of budget, you can just explain to the audience that the good guys win. I don't know if I've ever felt so abused by an ending in my life. =) Half the storyline met the guillotine as the money ran out. That...hurts my head. I'm just warning the rest of you. Maybe you'll be less mentally damaged by the ending than I was if you're aware of what you're in for. =) The sad part is, I really liked it up until that point. I mean...you know the budget is falling short toward the end...when you can tell they just paint some blobs of color over exposed film like old color films (before color film) and only 1-2 characters on screen are actually fully-colored drawings. =) That's what made it sad...i really wanted this movie to finish. =)

Edit: You can really tell that Peter Jackson watched this movie during the planning stages of the live-action LOTR...a lot of the camera angles and scenes look near identical.
