Okay, so I haven't fallen off the face of the earth. I have been a mixture of busy and burnt out lately. I've only been caring about the assignments that will actually be graded; intensive catching-up and studying will happen before each exam.

So, yeah. Latest (hah) news:

-Not going to Rome this summer. I applied for Father Foster's program, and was turned down--I didn't do well enough on the test. I was not happy when I heard this, and I'm still not happy about it, but I am comforted by the fact that the people who do this are usually experience teachers. Or Kaveh. I still feel a little like I'm not a good Classics student, but hopefully I'm wrong.

-That said, I'm probably going to be getting a job with a temp agency over the summer. Yay for money! Hopefully I'll actually work--I'm tired of part-time jobs that have me working only once or twice a week.

-I still have a Monroe project to do, so my "Spoken Latin" project will be based on programs I'll try to attend this summer. The soonest one is in late June, I think, in Washington state, and I'm going to see if it's not too late to register. The other one is in July or August and takes place in Kentucky. Now to figure out how to make a project out of this. Diary of the time spent there, perhaps?

-Other summer projects: most important other than getting work is starting on research and translation for my Honors Thesis, which I'll be doing in the spring next year. I need to get it cleared with Dr. Spaeth first, but I'm planning on writing about Q. Curtius Rufus' biography of Alexander the Great, and how it fits into and is influenced by Roman culture. That's my broad topic. It'll probably be narrowed down, maybe to how it fits into the rise of biography and the diminishing (but not completely by any means) of history as genres of Roman writing. Idea courtesy of Professor Chesley, who, I am pleased to say, will be staying for another year. I've asked him to be one of my readers. So, I've planned on trying to translate said biography on my own, and reading up on the history and culture of that time period, and anything else that looks like it'll be relevant.

-Also: knitting and cross-stitching, as usual for me (yay productivity!). Reading Terry Pratchett. Actually going to a gym of some sort--I got a lot more fit over this year, probably more fit than I've ever been, and I don't want to lose it.

-Big happy thing YAY for this summer: I'll have made enough money from work study this semester to buy World of Warcraft and three months of gameplay. I am SUPER excited. CJ and I will be playing together, maybe with his sister and her guild, if I can get onto the Silverhand server, which is crowded. Does anyone have advice about what server to choose for World of Warcraft? I know there are a few of you out there who play it. I want to see if I can get on an RP server, because I like my characters to have personalities (when they're not in group combat).

-CJ and I have been together for a little over a year now! This makes me happy. I like this guy. :-D

-I am burned out. Did I mention that? Because I totally am. Darn you, Suida. Darn you, Horace article search/critique. Darn you, Latin memorization. I just want break to start NOW.

And that's about it from here. Just two more days of classes left. Then intense finalage. Then summer and working and WoW. And maybe participating in community theater again? I need to see what they're doing at PCT. Hopefully something better than Annie or Gypsy.
