Hmm. Received the sculpting material today.
Unfortunately for the project, Nora is visiting for a few days so that shall be a major hindrance to my productivity.

I found a small toy soldier shop in town rather randomly, but luckily they sell the kinds of model paints I've been unable to find ever since Rider's Hobby closed a couple years ago. I primed and threw a quick first coat of paint onto the figure, only to find that the joint paint scraped off when I moved them.
This is probably because I didn't wait for the full drying time. It was dry to the touch, but prolly still tacky underneath. Also, in my haste I didn't take the time to wash the figure and according to the customizing articles I've read there's often oils and such on the figures so that the joints move well. So I scrubbed off paint around the joints and sanded them down. I'll probably re-primer it tomorrow and let it dry for a whole day, then see if the joints scrape off at all.
If it does, not sure what my plan of attack will be, but if not I can carry on as usual.

Also, my new icon is definitely my next idea if this first project goes well. The Clone Saga really did allow for some of the coolest Spidey outfits. Anyway, not to get ahead of myself.

I was thinking about the sculpting a bit today and I realized I wasn't sure if I wanted to do Scarlet's hoodie with a full hood, or with it tattered and torn as it is most often depicted. I have a pretty good idea for how I'd do a regular hood and it seems to be a pretty basic shape so that's prolly the way to go. I'm not quite sure I'm experienced enough to do proper looking tatters, but I'm sure I'll play around with it when the time comes.
The trickiest part of the sweatshirt will be getting it to stick to the chest while still overlapping the abdomen, which is on a separate swivel starting near the top of his six-pack. The shirt still goes down to his belt, but I'm going to have to mold it in such a way so it hangs sort of loose and doesn't completely obstruct the articulation.

This is so much fun.
