You know you have a good life when it's the beginning of summer and you get to go back to your high school and point and laugh at the kids who still go there. Maybe that's just me, though. Nope, probably just me. I did get to go back and visit my teachers today. It was an awesome experience to say the least, considering that freshman year I didn't get to see many of my old teachers at all.
My AP Environmental science teacher isn't teaching APES next year, which makes me sad because he's a really excellent teacher (even though my friends and I were in the back corner causing general havoc). That's the second class I've seen go on hiatus because the school is promoting a different track or is just trying to dump a department--the arts department is down to four teachers. My old school's administrative system is messed up.
I got to go visit my senior year math teacher again too. He is literally the coolest man. He spent several years in the Peace Corps in South Africa, and every odd year (e.g. 2009, 2011, 2013) goes back to the village he originally stayed in and he willingly brings teachers from my high school, and even other students with him. But anyway, enough rambling about his awesome. My friend and I sat and talked with him--he told us all about his general life teachings. He also said all of us should grab coffee soon, which I am totally okay with because he tells the best stories.
And then I went to terrorize--I mean chat with, my old physics teacher. He's actually one of my favorite people at that school. And I hadn't seen him in two years until today. Cool thing is, he just got certified for his black belt along with his whole family, and we got to appropriately discuss the Avengers and Whedon's evil. And then we talked about Doctor Who. Did I mention I love this man? Plus, I passed him in my car on the way out while blasting "Gold on the Ceiling" and he rolled down his window just to tell me I had good taste. Basically, winner.
So many props for the best of my high school. So many props. I would almost say I miss that place except I definitely don't because bad administration. I'm glad I get to visit in small doses.
