When Kris kisses his thumb and then his wrist, Adam simply arches one eyebrow.

“For…” Kris timidly chews on his words before saying, “reminding me why I need to live.”

I just about cried here.

This was so emotional. Adam wants to be Kris' best friend in any way Kris needs, and at the same time, be willing to have his heart blown to shreds in the process.

Yes! I'm glad that's the impression you took. It's definitely what I was going for, which is why I chose to write it from Adam's POV.

Thank you so much! I busted my ass on this fic. The insane amount of angst was, at times, hard to write. I made myself cry a few times. I'm glad it's getting such a good reception, so far.

I may just have to write a sequel, or more. I've written one fic sequel, previously, but never a multi-chapter fic. I have charity fics to write, still. So, I guess I'll see where it goes from there.

Really beautiful and so painful. I'd love to see anither chapter or more. My heart breaks for what your Kris went through, but for Adam too. He is clearly so vulnerable and willing to do anything for Kris, but afraid it will all blow up in his face or ultimately make him lose Kris all together.
