Woot! We had a great weekend in Leuven :)
We left around 10:30ish on Saturday and arrived around 13:30 in the Spacebar (aka known as Higuard Central). We met Linus for the first time in real life and talked WoW before Frosty and Richard joined us and walked around Leuven for a bit. We checked into their new house which is a cozy little house in the 'suburbs' of Leuven just behind the Keizersberg with its ancient walls and towers. Eventually we returned to the city, dropped by Jules and Stan (who we also met in real life for the first time) an d had dinner with the six of us. During dinner at 'De Werf' (a very nice place btw) we talked too much WoW before returning to Frosty and Richard's place where we watched the Princess Bride. Their new sleeping couch turned out to be very comfy but it
would have been even better if the neighbours had decided to turn the heater on ;)
On Sunday we rose late and Frosty and Richard rose early ;) and had brunch at De Werf again. We spend the afternoon in de Groot Begeijnehof which is the 15th century district and in excellent condition. Especially the river flowing through it and the old mansions are looking great. Finally we went to meet Jen, Amy and Kaya for the first time in real life. I really hope Amy (a huge wolf-dog hybrid) is going to survive surgery this (monday)morning. Around 1530ish we left Leuven and returned home where we arrived about 1830ish. Half and me watched another episode of X-Files while having dinner and logged into WoW at night to game with the people we just had left in Leuven.
On the more personal front we learned two important things. The first is that we need to visit Leuven much much more then what we have been doing so far, it is only a three hour drive which is nothing compared to seeing your friends more often. Secondly that spending time just doing what you like to do without having to do all kinds of stuff is great. It is something we need to do more often. There is always this pressure around on having to fix stuff, create stuff, work stuff, write stuff, help stuff, read stuff instead of simply just strolling around a great city on a sundaymorning and having an English breakfast with sausages and bacon.
I think I need more vacations and I need to enjoy myself more instead of always working. I enjoy work too, but this is different ;)
