The blackberry

For the past month, I had the privilege of using the Blackberry Bold. I had an unlimited 3G data plan and could do almost anything on the go, from typing and replying emails to being on MSN 24/7, surf, facebook, twitter, anything. This was part of Research in Motion, a company which through the university was asking for final year students to try out the device and after which, fill up a survey.

I'm about to return the device this week and thought of penning my thoughts on the mobile. I must say, I love it - for one, I'm always in the know when it comes to emails. The blackberry allows up to 10 email accounts to be synced into the phone and each time a new email comes in, I can check it immediately without having to use my computer. However, I feel the urgency of replying the emails and must be kept informed all the time. With that, I still very much prefer my personal time and I need some work life balance.

The other interesting function of the Blackberry is that it has its own network. Each device has a unique PIN number and if you have a friend who has a blackberry too, you just have to add his/her PIN number and viola, you can message each other FOC and it doesn't matter if your friend is overseas. It's still free! Also, when you send messages to your friend, you'd know if the message has been delivered and/or read. This is much better than texting and oh, very good for couples! :)

The device is pretty user friendly. All we had was an hour's training of how to use it and I didn't bother reading up the user manual. I enjoyed playing around with it, taking pictures, reading and facebooking on it. On many nights, as I'm lying down about to sleep, I read news and msn till my eyes get tired and I fall asleep.

I guess I'm going to miss this. It is definitely much better than the HTC that I'm currently using. Though, I don't think I'll buy one any time soon. The main factor, as I mentioned above - I'd love my personal space.

This was one of the pictures taken on the BB, unedited.

With that, all good things must come to an end. Goodbye BB, you've been good. :)
