Christmas Eve crisis

So I ran into a rather iffy situation. While everyone was texting me about their wonderful time eating fruit cakes, I was in a battle with a fiesty virus on my laptop! It all started with..................

Me going onto my livejournal for my Arashi love. *hand over heart thinking about my A. lol.. As I was viewing a journal, nature called. I quickly went to the restroom and once I got back, my virus protection went nuts! Protection my butt!  It was telling me to upgrade this, upgrade that, and I had to remove this virus threat REPEATEDLY! After 10 times, I took a sigh of relief with a smile =D. I would say not even 10 seconds, I got this BIG, MASSIVE sign with bright red background saying "Identity theft detected!" I honestly felt my blood pressure going up by 3 times. It's bad enough I have to pay for identity theft ever since my boss got her car broken into and STOLE my resume ALONG with my background check document that has my social security number. Well back to my virus problem, I was in panic mode. I quickly restarted my laptop. Everything seemed normal but I can't open any programs at all. Worst of all, I have a VERY important bookmark (which is my payroll website where I view the pay stubs). I left my work very early in the year, so I don't really check it since then. Plus before I left my job, my boss changed the payroll site so I don't really recall the name of the site! What a convenience right?! -______-  I sound like a teenager ranting on every problem in her life. LOL. If I can't get this bookmark thing to open, I might have to drive for HOURS to that place to get my W2 to file my taxes since the company does not send the W2 home like most companies. In this state of mind, I wanted to reformat my whole computer but ...... I have no idea how! LOL. The only thing I can do was to system restore. Sounds good right? EXCEPT I can't open any programs. BUMMER. lol. I forgot to mention,  FIRFOX does not have a folder for its bookmarks. So if you're in a situation like me............good luck. I spent probably a good hour trying to find the bookmarks since I can't open Firefox. Then I suddenly have this light bulb flickering on top of me, the kind that Aiba has sometimes. LOL. Well I decided to click on pretty much everything file in the Firefox folder. I came across this strange file with ".dll" so once I clicked on it, I had to choose a program to open it with. I chose Firefox and suddenly...........the doors of heaven opened. Firefox opened! I quickly saved all of my bookmarks. Now the only problem is to how to fix this virus problem. I decided to go to control panel. Miraculously I saw a system restore and decided to give it a shot. It opened! I guess opening the system restore from the start menu doesn't work. lol. I restored it to 5 days before and uninstalled my Firefox. After downloading Chrome instead, I feel like my laptop is much "lighter" and faster too. When I say lighter, I mean I feel less stress from potential virus attacks.  I tried convincing my brother to delete his Firefox but I think he's in love with it too much already.
