I know a girl with a few awards to win. but she’d rather not receive them. It’s not that she’s the best, it’s what she’s doing that she hates. What she’s doing to appeasing others, even at the risk of her own dreams. I know a girl who is hating her superficial dinner right now, but she’ll lay her white silk napkin over her black and white dress, and clap her hands at all her other “gifted” peers. “Swim girl, swim, your not good enough, go faster, until your dinners on the ground and you shoulders out of it’s socket. Swim girl, swim, your still not good enough.” But tonight they will hand her a golden plaque and a trophy almost as tall is she is, on the front it will say, “Jessika Johnstone, 2003-2004 season MVP.” Her dad will display them in the living room along with the past years of awards, next to the ones her brother won befor her. When company comes over, he’ll say, “That’s my girl’s, she swam fast.” but at this rate, in her own heart she’ll never be good enough. I know I girl how is going to need a wish of luck, it’s going to take more then a pretty dress, and shaved legs to win this night over.
