blue striped

I allowed myself to start up a new project as a reward for my quick work on the chemise dress, this will be a bjd-sized blue striped polonaise. It's going pretty well, I mean I've never been the fastest seamstress around, but for me, this bjd sewing is a blessing (and laying out patterns doesn't take up the entire floor:)

I thought I was rather cunning in my method of attaching the bodice boning - I used a tiny cable tie and instead of sewing on an extra tube for it, I zigzaged it onto the lining with varying sized stitches. *smug*
You can see it in the picture below. You can also see the little sleeve which has been decorated with a cotton lace sleeve flounce. I'm going to put more trim on it, but couldn't decide which (bluestriped ribbon or an off-white braid?) so I moved on to the skirt in the meantime.

Other than this, I'm also allowing myself to work on the sheer petticoat and the leather corset. I am going to try to be more strict with my 3 projects at a time this year :)
The petti should be fairly easy to finish once I get going on it, and the leather corset just needs binding - however working on it is restricted to the corsetry class due to the teacher's special old leather-tolerant sewing machine.

The corsetry class was meant to finish after christmas, but since none of us had finished, we pursuaded the teacher to continue the class in her own sewing studio (which happens to be oh so much more conveniently closer to me!:) and paying her directly. As an extra perk, this will not strictly be a corsetry class - the rest of my 'classmates' are into fetisch so some will be doing other kinds of leather or PVC projects, but since the teacher has some experince in historical costuming (she's into larp), I figured she might help me pin/fit the en fourreau pleats of my polonaise on me - it's has been stalled due to my corwardice and lack of trust in my dummy for far too long ;)
