A Victorian Diary 13

The Four Gore Underskirt is finished! Yay!

I spend the weekend pleating the bias cut trim and I sewed on the velvet trim and finished the waistband last night. Ironing the pleats took forever. =)

So I'm hoping to have the overskirt finished tonight or tomorrow (I have yet to do the bustling system with strings and stuff and then there's just the waistband). Then I have promised Jo to temporarily pack up all of my sewing stuff in order to give us a chance to do a thorough clean-up of the workroom.

Then on to 18th C winterjacket before I do the cuirass bodice, cos it's getting cold!

Here are the different size pleats I tried out. The first one had too much space in between, the second try the pleats looked too wide, so I settled for the last try, with quite large pleats and a nice space between them.

Normally when I pleat I just... pleat. But since I was following the pattern on the skirt underneath the trim, here's how I made the pleats. (In case it might help someone.)
