So I've made one of those Let's Make Fun of Bad Fanfiction sites.
And you know what?
They're completely right. My one and only OFC is a complete Sue. My history is bad. And my only excuse is that it was written for an exchange where I had a time limit and was trying to please someone else (who never bothered to comment btw, so all that hard work for nothing.)
And there's the lesson folks. When you try to force something, it doesn't end well.
Most of my stuff is better received. And even if it isn't, I'm usually alright with that because I'm here to practice technique and experiment with different styles. Bad reviews are just as helpful as good reviews. ie. Now I know the only thing I can do on a time crunch is something I'm comfortable with.
At least I wasn't rated as toxic, but just okay.
(okay) - although you can still tell that they're Mary-Sues, these are above average. They're not a bad read, the author probably knows how the spellcheck function on her word processor works, and the canon characters behave in a believable manner. Such stories are likely to provoke the reader into tragic sighs and cries of "use your powers for good, Author-Woman!"
So back to using my powers for good. I now return you to your regularly scheduled holiday weekend.
