Remember that song from Brownies? It makes me wonder though, which is silver and which is gold? Are new friends silver and old friends gold? And at what point does a silver friend get upgraded to gold? What about platinum friends?
Anyway, I have lots of new friends so I thought I would get around to doing that 5 random things meme that I was tagged for as way of an introduction.
1. My father and I have these strange conversations every now and then where we both talk about something different. It usually starts with him telling me something boring about sports or flying and I respond with something he thinks is boring like Harry Potter or Jane Austen and then we take turns talking like the other person is engrossed and participating in our topic when really we're both talking about different things. At some point one of us decides the conversation is finished and we resume talking like normal people again who handle only one subject at a time.
2. My mood is almost completely dictated internally. I could be in a car wreck, lose my wallet, and have a homeless person spit at me and still be in a great mood. Conversely, I could be having a great week and still want to hole up in my apartment and do nothing but watch L&O while eating cookie dough and then go to bed at 9. (I may be exaggerating just a little, but only a little.)
3. Japan was not my first choice in countries to live and teach in. Somewhere where they spoke French or Spanish would have been preferred, but since this is where I get a great salary, free rent, and immediate consideration due to me being a Georgetown College grad..well here I am. And I'm having a great time.
4. I have taken a Mr. Potato Head version of Larry the Cucumber with me on every trip since I went to London in college and I loan him out to friends and family. I have pictures of that crazy cucumber in front of iconic landmarks in London, Paris, Rome, China, and the Alamo. Someday, I will get the pictures together and make an album. I might even send it to the folks at Big Ideas, although that might make Bob jealous.
5. I'm obsessed with Starbucks coffee. I used to buy it everyday at the cafeteria at work and you could tell if I was having a good morning or a bad morning based on if it were a one-cup or two-cup kind of day. But I can't get it to taste the same here. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. So most mornings I drink tea instead. I miss my Starbucks.
New friends, old friends, silver, gold, and platinum friends, please tell me one random thing about yourself that I may or may not know.
