Who even knew how long Wally’d been here by himself, outside of time and away from everything that was supposed to matter. Away from his friends.

Couldn’t blame the guy for being confused. For being different. But whatever it was, they’d fix it. They would.

By the name he made it back to B he was ready to take the front steps two at a time. He reached for the door and pushed it open.

Wally was so focused on willing time to move faster that when the time came for Dick to actually turn up, he almost missed it.

Almost, but not quite. At the sound of footsteps near the door, Wally was up. By the time the door was being pushed open he was standing right behind it.

In the split second before Dick came into view Wally's apprehension came back full force. What if there was something wrong? What if it was something he couldn't fix? No, he firmly shook that thought out of his head. This was his best friend. Nothing was going to happen to him.

The door finished opening and whatever it was Wally had planned to say fled him mind as he got a good look at Dick for the first time.

"Dick, you shrunk!"

And apparently, in the past two weeks Wally’s grown three inches and put on twenty pounds of muscle.

The pieces were starting to fall together, and Dick was pretty he didn't like the shape they were taking.

"You grew," he said stupidly.

Despite the situation Wally couldn't help but let out a laugh at that. Dick was normally a lot more expressive than that, and what kind of best friend would he be if he didn't pick on him just a little.

"I've always been taller than you, Dick. Just not...this much taller."

He stopped to inspect the other hero, critically eyeing everything he could, checking for anything out of place.

"Alright, so you've deaged. Weirder things have happened. Like...er...when they let G'nort into the JLI. More importantly, are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine," Dick said. He took a step into the room, glancing behind Wally and taking stock of were they were standing. Kitchen. Table. Chairs. Really ugly drapes. Wally hadn't picked those out, had he? "Someone planted a bomb on a cruise ship down at Gotham Harbor, so I was on my way down there. The last thing I remember, Bruce stopped responding. I thought maybe-"

It's a thought he's not really ready to finish. He shook his head and rubbed his eyes. "I don’t know. This is a mess, Wally. I don't feel deaged. You're the one who looks different to me."

He'd have to take Dick's word for it right now. If he had his superspeed he'd rush over and check to make sure Dick wasn't hiding injuries from him. Dick always did have a bad habit of trying to play his injuries off. He seemed okay though, and over the years he'd gotten pretty good at telling.

Wally frowned in thought at Dick's recollection. Something wasn't adding up. If Dick was just deaged then he should still have his memories, and if it was just his memories that suffered then he wouldn't look younger, or be dressed as Robin.

"Don't worry about Bruce. I think I know what's going on. When I first got here there was this strange woman who claimed to be one of the fates, and she was telling me people were being brought here from across the timeline."

He paused to let that sink in before continuing.

"I think we were brought from different time, Dick."

"But..." God, he hated time travel. "But that doesn't even make sense, Wally. I mean, if I got ripped out of my timeline because my being there screwed it up, then how can you even exist if you're from two years in the future?"

You'd think with how often Wally had to deal with time travel he'd be used to it by now. He frowned at that thought. Why did he deal with time travel so much? Dick didn't have to. Maybe it was a speedster thing...

"Maybe it wasn't you who messed it up. According to the Fate, there was a shockwave or something that ripped through the timeline, and sometimes people would be affected and brought here."

Wally sighed as he thought further. Time travel made no sense.

"You know, time travel makes absolutely no sense. Why couldn't we have an alien invasion, we're used to those."

"Heck yeah," Dick said. He rubbed at the side of his mask, then shook his head. "Hey, I'd even take interdimensional zombies. Remember those guys?"

Wally laughed in response. They really did lead the strangest lives when interdimensional zombies were preferable to their current situation.

"How could I forget? Wow, we've had some crazy things attack us. Not to mention our rogues."

Slinging an arm over Dick's shoulder, Wally let out a bright grin.

"Well nothing to worry about, we've been through worse. Plus with me around what could go wrong?"

Wally made it hard to stay brooding and pensive, that was for sure. "You bet," he said, letting himself grin a little. "Long as we don't speak of the bathtub incident. Ever."

But hey, he did have a point. Wally was here, which meant he had one less friend to worry about. For now, that was enough.

"So," He clapped a hand on Wally’s shoulder. "As long as we’re here, you gonna show me the new digs or what?"

Wally cringed. No, they would never speak of that particular incidence as long as they had breath in their bodies ( ... )

"Shut up," Dick said good naturedly. But hey, Wally was right. This costume had already gotten him more than it's share of unwanted attention in the last five hours. Time to ditch the skivvies.

He tugged off his cape and hesitated, trying to decide whether to toss it on the bed or grab a hanger. The hanger won, since this was Wally's room, and Dick liked to make it a policy to wait for an invitation before cluttering up someone else's. He moved a little closer to the closet and stopped, his eyes catching on that telltale flash of red.

Red. Not yellow.

"Hey Wally," he called. He brushed at the fabric with his fingers, frowning a little. "Your costume's red."

Wally couldn't help but ruffle Dick's hair as he passed by. It was certainly a sight to see Dick back in his Robin costume, and he would be lying to say he wasn't amused far more than he should be by it.

He moved to lounge casually against a wall, watching in interest as Dick moved to hang his cloak up. It would be a futile effort to try to keep the room clean, he was sure, but it would be fun to see Dick try.

At Dick's question Wally tilted his head slightly in confusion.

"Yeah, I would hope so. Who ever heard of the Flash wearing yellow?"

"The Flash?" Dick dropped the edge of the costume and stared. He turned to look at Wally again, suddenly feeling... more than a little out of place.

"...Wow. I mean, when did you..." He stopped, a little lost for a tactful way to phrase the next question. "So did Barry just... give it up?"

Wally couldn't hide the flinch that arose at that question. If only that were the case. Even now thinking about Barry hurt, especially with the thoughts of the impostor fresh in his mind. Now wasn't the time to dwell on it, he would just have to keep on going the way he was, and hopefully he wasn't shaming Barry too much.

"He...didn't exactly have a choice. There was...a big battle. He didn't make it."
