-premise: female P's rated pictures of men. Cn1: 1/3 no music, Cn2: 1/3 avant-garde music, Cn3: 1/3 rock music.
-DV: How attractive did you find the men?
-results: P groups rated attractiveness from highest to lowest in Rock, no, then Avant-Garde music as follows:

Jackson, Hunter, & Hodge (1995)
-conclusion: found that there is a general belief that physically attractive people also have a lot of other things going for them

Feingold (1966)
-conclusion: showed that physically attractive people generally have no specific advantages/disadvantages, except when it comes to social skills; they are more socially adept.

-premise: P's are interviewed by C1 and receive either positive, negative, or neutral feedback from C2. afterwards, 1/2 told that C2 is doing a study of his own and may want to contact you later to help him with his study.

C. Jecker & Landy (1969)
-premise: P's given a small amt of money to perform a task. at end of exp., 1/3 asked by experimenter "We are running out of money for this study. Would you mind giving the money back? You don't have to, it's your money, you earned it, but we'd really appreciate it if you could give it back." 1/3 told same thing by dept.mental secretary. 1/3 told nothing.
