Thoughts on Pantheism & Deities

Jul 27, 2005 21:38

While the aspects of the Universe themselves are not deities, they are worthy of deification. I believe that he Universe itself, and all its comprising aspects, are wonderful, natural, and, keyly, beyond human explanation. Inversely to the intrinsic cognitive dissonance caused by not knowing where we came from promotes wonder and curiosity of, and often the personal need for the belief in a benevolent, omniscient, omnipotent, just, and merciful Creator, I (as a pantheist) have an intrinsic cognitive dissonance caused by not knowing how to unify a nonjudgmental, objective, impersonal, and pragmatic Spirit which has promoted my wonder and curiosity of, and the personal need to explain the things that are already here.

Though I have no justification for it, I believe that this Spirit is omnipresent throughout the Universe. I believe that to "confine" It to any one particular place in the Universe (our hearts, a temple, or a place called "Heaven") is hold It captive, denying It access to places which are *also* part of the Universe (such as trees, buildings, planets, or stars). I believe that It is present in equal proportions in the smallest bits of matter (such as photons, quarks, and neutrons) to the largest bits (such as planets, stars, and galaxies).

I'm considering the thought that humans are not the only beings capable of appreciating this Spirit. Because environments and ecosystems are part of nature and, hence, part of the Universe, the appreciation of one's environment(s) and ecosystem(s) is equivalent to the appreciation of this Spirit. I'm considering the possibility that all living things--from bacteria to cats to apes, and from fungi to ferns to the tallest trees--are all capable of appreciating their environment(s) and ecosystem(s). In fact, I'm considering the thought that the less intelligent the organism, the greater its appreciation.

This is all I have for now. I'm tired and must go to bed, rejuvinate myself. I will be posting more on this, however...
