Does this store have cameras? If something like this happens, then isn't a report supposed to be filed with the police or the fire department? SHouldn't you, regardless of your position, follow through with the company's or the store's policy and proceedure on that? A lot of places have it where if an accident happens, a report has to be filled out about the incident.

Also, unless there was liquid on the floor, and that is the reason why the kid slipped and fell, isn't the parent supposed to be paying attention to his/her kid? If their kid has ADHD and can't go to a store without running through the aisles then maybe the parent should not take them out in those situations.

If the parent is a high profile person in the community, I don't think it should change anything about how the situation is handled or how they are treated. If the child has more serious injuries than you thought, that is why a report should be written and why there should be cameras there to capture what happened. If the parent and child were the only ones inside the store beside yourself, you are probably screwed because people will feel sympathy for them and not you. As for not being the owner but a person with less authority like a cashier or stock person, then any legal rammifications from the fall are not your problem because you are not responsible for the store or the safety proceedures.
