A Pink Corner House, Bristol, Saturday Morning

Nov 27, 2010 12:31

Kate was still in Bristol. Still dealing. She thought she was doing okay, actually. She hadn't forgotten about Wednesday because that was impossible and she had the nightmares to prove it, but... At least some things seemed to be kinda righting themselves now. At least Mitchell was talking to her again. She'd missed that more than she would have ( Read more... )

Mitchell wandered into the living room eventually, having checked up on George and Nina upstairs. He came to a stop in the middle of the room, squinting at the TV, a cup of coffee in his own hand. "...Why are we watching Gok Wan?"

So he wasn't completely awake yet.

"Because everything else sucked ass," Kate replied idly, glancing up at him. "Least he's kind entertaining."

"Americans," Mitchell muttered, regardless of his own love for really ridiculous TV shows (at least The Real Hustle had a point to it. He was learning!) and stepped back towards the sofa.

He made a sort of backwards flop into it that seemed about half intent and half 'oh, who put that there?'

Kate snorted and gave him a vaguely amused look, curling up into her own space a little more. "Yeah, because you have such impeccable taste."

"The Real Hustle is educational television," Mitchell countered, taking a wary sip of his own coffee. "You don't need more fashion advice."

"Showing how totally stupid people are is educational?" Kate wondered, then shook her head. "God, how were you ever a teacher?"

Of course, Kate was an avid fan of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, so she didn't have much room to talk. But then she wouldn't feel the need to claim anything she watched was in any way useful, either.

"Hey, hey," Mitchell said in protest, and waved his hand in her general direction. "It teaches you a lot about how to avoid scams!"

And was totally hilarious because you got to see how totally stupid people could be, but still!

"Riiight," Kate drawled, taking a sip of coffee while rolling her eyes. Multitasking for the morning. "Think I'll stick to my fashion tips and stuff, thanks."

"Don't come crying to me if someone leeches off your mobile plan," Mitchell said, ever-so-kindly. He squinted at the television. "Is she...?"

"Such little faith in my ability to take care of myself," Kate replied, shaking her head, before turning her attention towards the television again. "What?"

She hadn't really been keeping track of it too closely.

"Oh, that is disturbing," said Mitchell. Apparently he wasn't about to answer her question now.

Kate quirked a brow, after watching the TV for a moment. "You find weird things disturbing, Mitchell."

Not surprising, really, considering who and what he was.

Also, Kate may have been lying about whether she found the stuff on the screen disturbing or not.

"I just did not need to see that," Mitchell said, with a slight wince.

Then he relaxed into the sofa. "So," he said, conversational and very, very careful, "I was thinking about heading back out to Fandom tomorrow morning."

Kate made a slight face. "Ugh, yes, Fandom. Home of the unpredictable environment and the potentially ulcer-suffering boyfriends."

Her home as well, though, so she wasn't entirely objecting to where this was going. Couldn't hide forever.

"You're welcome to stay for as long as you like, I'm not taking that back," he hastened to add, "Or turn up again later, if you want to take a break."

Which would also make Mitchell feel a lot better than if she ran off to some hotel in the middle of nowhere on her own again, so. "But I thought you might want to tag along, like."

"Mm, well, I do miss having more clothes." She missed a lot of things, in fact. Many of them not quite that completely insignificant. "And I have online stuff I should be getting back to."

Requests to attend to.
