It seemed like the coast was clear when Kate left the school to return to the dorms after classes, but that was not the case. A little before she reached the dorm doors, she was ambushed by two cucumbers: a regular-sized one distracted her while an abnormally large one snuck up behind her and lunged at her

Leto had changed into clean clothes and cleaned his crysknife after fighting vegetables this morning, and had probably enjoyed the battle more than Kate had.

"So, cucumbers?"

He stopped by the door. Kate has sounded rather desperate on the voicemail.

"Ambushed me just outside the dorms. Then exploded on me." The tone made it clear how very little Kate had enjoyed it. Just in case her expression didn't convey the feeling well enough.

Half a bottle of citrus-scented soap later and she still felt like she reeked of cucumber.

He could have teased her about it, but Kate seemed to upset for that. Leto stepped closer and reached for her hands to pull her close. She looked like she needed a hug.

A hug, or two, or ten thousand.

Kate let herself be drawn close, but her whole body was tense. She was holding on to her anger, because she knew what was lurking right behind it.
