Went to school today and talked to my lecturer regarding some possible major projects that we can undertake. I thought that we would be doomed to do that Ministry of Finance project, but it turns out that that project is simply some filming and video editing project. It's not even sufficient for a module final project, much less a final year project. And they said it themselves, that they just gave us that on Friday because they had this batch of students and they didn't know what to do. And yeah, he also confirmed that us world skills people are being kept back for the possibility that we might get into the finals. (Results are due today by the way, but its almost 6:52pm and nothing's come!) So we got introduced to some new technologies... Silverlight (which is really awesomely cool, but its totally new and I wasn't confident in taking it up for major project).
Check
Hard Rock Memorabilia for an example of Silverlight, it's awesome because you can keep zooming in onto objects and it still retains its resolution.
Was flipping channels and came across this show called Brat Academy which is about a school where parents send their unruly children to be trained. This happens where else, but China! Here the students are put in an army-like regime. Because of China's one-child policy (this brings back memories of sec 4 geog) parents spoil their only child and therefore they turn into brats. Some of the students said stuff like... they pointed knives at their mothers, they ran away from home, really hardcore stuff. They're in the school for one year, and are put through trainings like walking. In their year in the school, the students would have walked 1000 kilometres across China. That's crazy @.@ But it's supposed to give them time to reflect and instill values and stuff. Lol they interviewed this boy around 8 or 10. So funny.
Interviewer: Do you plan to run away?
Boy: No, I will just stay here for half a year. I will be home in 12 months.
Interviewer: Don't you mean 1 year?
Boy: No, half a year.
Interviewer: Isn't 12 months 1 year?
Boy: *long pause* It's half a year, what's wrong with you?
ROFL.
