A little good news

The dates aren't set yet, but it looks like I'll be house-sitting for the C's in July. Hooray! Whole-house a/c and just *one* self-sufficient feline (and the Rosenweasel). There are other benefits, but those are the biggies.

Given name Rosie, the Rosenweasel is what you get when you cross a Jack Russell terrier with a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, namely a smallish, spotted dog with silky "feathers". Also known as Rosie-Lou Who. (Look at her feet. Very Dr Seuss!)

What amazing feet! She really does looks like a Dr. Seuss dog. :D

We suspect that the unknown breed that made our Rosie long-legged was CKC Spaniel. She has feathered feet, though nothing like that, and the most amazing fluffy ears and tail. The feathers on her ears grow only on the back half, so it's possible for me to put them up into ponytails. :D Rosie does not appreciate that.

I can well imagine! This one had an ear infection during one of my soujourns there, and I got to administer ear drops three times a day for two weeks---wasn't THAT fun?! Not, she would tell you. But, like syringe-feeding the kittens, I developed a knack.

Ollie Cat had mites in his ears when he showed up at our house, so we got to do that twice a day to him. I developed a way of holding the cotton ball behind the tip of the syringe so that he didn't shake the drops out the second they hit his ear.

Raising kittens on a bottle is one of the hardest things ever. Even if you do everything exactly right, the mortality rate tends to be high. There's just not a really good substitute for a mama for them.

She lost another one last night...three left, last I heard. Hopefully once the survivors are weaned, she'll get Mimi fixed so this doesn't happen again.

Ah, poor babies. :( And yes, much better to get the mom fixed than go through that heartache again.

This is another disaster that can be attributed to Bozo--his offspring left the door open while she was moving their things out and Mimi escaped and got knocked up. I told Mb he was a no-good shitweasel before she ever moved him in--if she'd *listened* to me---! But of course, I can't say that. God forbid.

On a happier note, I got a CARE package from GK last week that included, among other things, a colorful braided belt to wear with my white shirtwaist dress. Yay! I'll have to rummage through my shoe pile and see what I've got to pair it with.
