It's raining hard, which is good. One, because we need the rain, but also because no one is out in it. (Dark alone is not sufficient deterrent to keep the noisy little hooligans off the street.) Two, because it'll giove my little rosemary plants a good soaking.

Otherwise, not a whole heckuva lot going on....

:D I'll see your rain, and raise you freezing rain AND snow. Ah, Newfoundland. Four seasons in one day.

Does your house have the old fashioned Florida ceiling I see sometimes on TV, with just narrow slats and roofing directly on top of that? Man, I'd be jealous if you did. I love the sound of rain on the roof.

I'm glad you're having a quiet night otherwise.

Nope, I've got a very ordinary tract ranch house with a shingled roof that needs repair. I *wish* I had a tin roof---or maybe terra cotta tile. Both are traditional Florida styles. Tile roofs are expensive, so they tend to be on prestige homes or buildings. Tin roofs---I think these days, the panels are acrylic---they're the ones that are awesome for rain on the roof. I used to work right across from a historic chapel that has a tin roof. They did a really fantastic restoration on it while I was there, the floors were natural cypress wood, and the whole building was very austere and lovely.

Slush and snow AND rain coming down here today (as it also did yesterday). Not the freezing rain, thank goodness, or most of the electric lines would be down.
Hmm, and some so-called tin roofs do still have metal panels (we do) but the outer side is covered with some kind of plastic or polymer paint, not tin... oh, and terra cotta tiles are not only expensive, they are HEAVY. You would need the whole roof beams etc redone. So if at all possible, go for metal.

I'll probably go with more shingles, as they're affordable. The whole mess with the fence was so exasperating that I haven't even *started* looking into roof repairs.
