MI5/Spooks - JOOLS!

Jul 13, 2006 21:00

Ah, what bliss---"MI5/Spooks" arrived yesterday (when I was preoccupied with slashing), so I didn't get to enjoy it until today. And oh, yes, I enjoyed it *very* much.

I tried watching from the beginning, to get a sense of the main characters, but got pissed off by the first episode where the "villain" was a dumb-ass Southern girl---not just American, which would've been bad enough, but the least convincing Southern accent I've ever run across. Grrr. Said "Screw it, cut to the chase" (I almost just capitalized that---too much House, ya think?).

Popped in the 2nd DVD...it turned out to be the 2nd episode on there (There's very little to give one an idea of which episode is which; if you don't know episode #s, you're S.O.L..), which was also the one with Anthony Steward Head---who was definitely the anti-Giles. Very cool, but oh, Jools.

And the other episode (#1, Disc 3) was even better, because there was lots more Jools and he had some lines that were just priceless. Like when he's sending a text message at the opera, and the woman next to him makes a comment and he growls: "Madame, are you a Nazi? Because we Wagner lovers are a rum lot. Myself, I bugger skinheads." And she shut the hell UP.

(Excuse me while I go off and squee and fangirl over Jools, and by all means, feel free to join in. We can have a group squee.)
