O frabjous day! A getaway!

I just got off the phone with PJ, who wanted to know if I could pet-sit Thurs-Fri-Sat of this week, to which I gleefully said YES. The thought of 48 hours of A/C gave real enthusiasm to my tone. (The thought of having a few extra dollars that would take me to a movie or two didn't hurt, either. I want to see Thor and Fast Five, and they both sound ( Read more... )

I want to see those two movies, as well. I am not too sure about Thor in 3D but maybe... And damn, OurLady almost ruined Thor with her own wish to see it by asking if I wanted to see it. Sure I do but not with you! I cannot stand sitting directly nose against the screen as she does. Certainly, her eyesight is very poor (-18 if I remember correctly) but that does not mean that all your friends want to look at things as close as that...

I confess, left to my own devices, I will happily sit in the front row of the theater---but if I'm with anyone, I will defer to their prreferences unless they want to sit all the way in the back.

I had to watch Master and Commander from the 1st row and my neck was not happy with me at all. So I learned not to sit there. She, however, never goes during the 1st week of the showing as there would be too many brats eating popcorn (which makes her asthma break out) and no freedom to choose the front row seats... Gah. The whole going to cinema with her is almost an ordeal instead of the fun thing it SHOULD be.

From what you say, Our Lady is never much fun to be around. Or have I missed something?

No you have not. She was pretty fun when she was that much healthier in her younger days, but now, as you have with one of your friends, she has bouts of good health. And she is mentally blinkered in some areas, mostly in the practical sides of life and that just makes it so much more difficult to deal with her... She has great artist skill in painting and good creative brain when she wants to use it but otherwise... Let us just say that while you can stretch the buck, she pisses everything quickly and your income bracket is about the same.

And since she is sstill living with Mommy, she's never had to learn the fine art of Working for a Living. I've known people like that.

Umm, well, I am living with my parents under the same roof as well.... *shuffles off to feel ashamed*
But yes, she has never really gone out of the house to work somewhere...

That was not what I meant. You contribute to your household, both in terms of money and actually DOING things. Our Lady seems to expect the princess treatment. Hopefully, she will turn into a frog.

She gets paid for the paintings she does to LotR fans, so she is getting money for the household. However, if my work and income would be SO dependant of internet, I would get the dl connection at home. Espcially if one´s health is such as hers which prevents her of going out with bad weather... Just... you know, the practical side of things.
