I started my first load of laundry after lunch. While that was going, I sat on the couch and organized some of the stuff on the coffee table. (I may actually get that done this evening!) Started the second load---I'm estimating about four loads, total---and once that was going, I grabbed two cardboard cartons and and filled them with clothes that have been living out there, unworn, for way too long.
It involved speaking sternly to myself: I am NOT going to wear the peach poly-cotton top and pants combo EVER again, or that fussy black blazer, or the bulky, dark green acrylic sweater---the list goes on, and the clothes go OUT. (I did, however, keep the plaid flannel shirt for Kink! reasons.) Even parted with a couple of items that were gifted---I just don't wear them, and I'm sure that, given the state of my house, the bequeathers would understand.
Once I've got the coffee table down to the runner, my bedroom is going to be the next big project. I need to plow a path to my closet so I can hang up all those clean clothes---that's how they ended up heaped atop my cedar chest in a 3-foot tall pile. Okay, not all of it was clothes---there's still about a foot of accumulated books and god-knows-what---and that's yet another thing that needs to be done. Fortunately, I have more boxes.
