Yuletide Rex

I feel like I've read more fan-fiction in the last week than I have in the last six months. There were some fandoms I didn't comment on, because I wrote in them. Usually I'm all for shameless self-promotion, but not until after the reveal.

Let's start with my big gift:
Divergence The fandom is Equilibrium, and I asked for an AU where Errol Partridge lives. Very awesome!
Also for Equilibrium, How the Light Gets In , which makes me happy. But that wasn't all!

I got a treat in Anne McCaffrey - Dragonriders of Pern:
First Festival -- set not long after Dragonsinger, showing Menolly who's working her way past her shyness. There's another story that was written for someone else which also matches my request for Menolly between Dragonsinger and Dragondrums:
Lend Song a Sweeter Grace -- Menolly returns to Half-Circle Sea Hold. There's nothing sentimental about this piece, and Menolly is wonderfully drawn.

My other two requested fandoms also had posts (not for me, but I'm still thrilled to see them).
Damned (Devour)
A Moment Outside the Catch Trap (The Catch Trap)

And then, there's all the stuff I delighted in while browsing:
Buckaroo Banzai
Buckaroo Banzai and the Floydada Scuffle -- Buckaroo and Rawhide, their first adventure together. It's flawless.
The Heart of Rock and Roll -- A look at the team, their backgrounds and their regrets.

Wild, Wild West (TV)
Winter of Discontent -- Poor Artie's been deep undercover and he's having trouble readjusting. Delicious pre-slash.

Dexter
Repeat After Me -- Because my heart belongs to Harry.

James Bond: Casino Royale (2006)
Better Days -- Bond and M, one of my favorite pairings.

The Pretender
The Hound and the Hare -- Miss Parker's POV, and it works on a lot of levels.

Elizabeth Moon - Vattas War
Sweet Run -- I was thrilled to see this fandom. It's a tasty little morsel about what's going on with another ship in the Vatta fleet when all heck breaks loose with the ansibles.

Joan Vinge - Psion trilogy
Can't Go Back Again -- Another sci-fi fandom that made me go OMG!...although if you're not familiar with the books, you'll probably be lost.

V (TV)
The Statue Near the Sea -- Ham Tyler has a critical decision to make.

The Mummy series (movie)
A Spot of Bother -- It's so nice to know that I'm not the only one who ships Jonathan and Ardeth.
Sacred Marks -- Mind-boggling tattoo kink that made me catatonic with lust. I'm just saying....

PG Wodehouse - Jeeves and Wooster series (There are a bunch more of these, but I like this lot best.)
Jeeves and the Christmas Spirit, or, Turkey in the Offing -- Very true to the tone of the series, with Bertie trying to get a holiday dinner with all the trimmings and circumstances conspiring against.
The Aunt and the Ankh -- Another very episodic epic, this time involving an Egyptian-themed wedding, and an assignment from Bertie's overbearing aunt.
Summer of 1967 -- Bertie and Jeeves in their sunset years.
Deus Ex -- Jeeves really DOES possess god-like powers.
Jeeves and the Boon -- You knew there was going to be some slash in this category, right? Here we have slash AND kink, so if you like a bit of bondage and discipline, by all means, click on this one.

Armistead Maupin - Tales of the City series
Three-Part Harmony -- A contemporary story of Michael, Brian and Shawna.

Rex Stout - Nero Wolfe series
The Christmas Punch -- Archie gets snocked at a Christmas party and Saul Panzer comes to his rescue. Spot-on Archie voice. Pre-slash.

Caleb Carr - The Alienist series
The Night in Dublin -- I was impressed that anyone would tackle a fandom this deep, and even more impressed by how well they handled it. Slash.

The Shawshank Redemption
Breathe -- Red's readjustment to real freedom and his new life with Andy.

Ten Inch Hero It's been shown exactly five times in the known universe, according to IMDb, so where the hell is all this fic coming from?! My top picks.
The Art of Vegan Mayonnaise
Sarcasm. It's just one of the services Priestly offers.

Commercials
Feast! -- Life on the road with those Snickers Feast dudes. They're here to save the world!

And then, there's a category all to itself---juvenile nostalgia. Some of which is all grown up.
Margaret Sidney - Five Little Peppers series
Polly Pepper's New Friends -- This is perfectly evocative of the original in its gently antiquated verbage. I mean that lovingly; there are no jarring anachronisms or false notes. It really is a little treasure, and so is

Elizabeth Enright - The Melendys Series
Hieroglyphics on a Music Book -- The original Melendy books were set in the 40s, circa WWII. This happens 10 years later, and revisits Mark and Rush (with a very special appearance by Father) as their adoptive relationship evolves into something else. Tender slash, but there's also a strong story before that.

Trixie Belden Mysteries
Fire and Warmth -- Trixie is in her final year of college and she's ready for her first adult relationship. Who does she turn to? If you think it's Jim, you're wrong....

Julie Tatham and Helen Wells - Cherry Ames series
Cherry Ames, Summer Camp Nurse -- Tongue-in-cheek fem slash.

Dorothy Gilman - Mrs Pollifax series
Mrs. Pollifax and The Family Connection -- A charming vignette of Bishop's latest visit to Emily, matching the tone of the original nicely.
