Taking stock...

My cupboards are bare--okay, so I've got a few cans of beans left, but I am sincerely tired of:

beans
rice
pasta
tuna
eggs*

This includes spaghetti marinara, macaroni and cheese--and ramen in *any* form. The end is in sight! In a couple of days, I'll be able to pay bills, buy groceries and possibly, just possibly, have a teeny bit of disposable income left over. Between one thing and another, it's been a rough couple of months.

Now I can start getting back into the swing of purging. (I've been out of trash bags for the last few weeks--fortunately, during my last couple of trips to recycle cans, I've made them give me the bags back; I've reused those for kitchen refuse.) I'm trying to recruit a very organized friend of mine to direct operations--I tend to look around and *wibble*, whereas, she always seems to know just where to start and what to do next. Given the state of my garage, I'm going to need all the guidance I can get. If I can just get that emptied out, I'll have room to sort stuff from some of the other disaster areas.

Her husband is going to tackle my bathroom and kitchen overhauls, beginning with the hall bath. I need to start by acquiring a new faucet for the bathroom sink. I'm reusing the old sink (It matches the peach tiles.), I've already got a countertop, and ceiling paint, and wallpaper. Have decided against a new vanity cabinet--I can get a couple of sturdy posts or pipes to use as legs a helluva lot cheaper than a cabinet, and I have ample fabric to skirt it with. By the time I'm done, it'll be cute. Really.

The exterior needs work too--the eaves on the south side are in bad shape, the whole house needs painting (last done in 1985)--which I have paint for, but it needs to be pressure washed and primed, and the individual who promised to do it can no longer be counted on. *le sigh* It's also verging on the rainy season, so I need to find a yard person, since I *think* my previous one is still in full-time student mode. And the fence--the back fence is nonexistent in places... *headdesk* It never stops...but I haven't given up on it yet.

* I'm also OVER cheese and crackers.
