The Job (Day One)

I love the place already. It's huge; it's one helluva hike from one side to another, but wow! It's *true*---there IS a pool table in the breakroom.

We spent most of the day in an auditorium, listening to orientation. Our trainer was very energetic. He ought to be a game show host. So far, most of what he's talked about has been pretty basic customer satisfaction stuff. I have a big mouth; I've answered a lot of the questions, because it's easier than listening to him repeat them while waiting for some of the lumps to answer. Of fifty people in there, there are only four or five of us with any spark.

One of the first things we did was go around the room and talk about what kind of experience we had...I led the list for call center experience---a lot of them are refugees from restaurant work. Figures---those are classic entry level jobs.

The amenities are pretty sweet: there really IS a pool table in the breakroom! In addition to being right across the parking lot from Goodwill, it's about four doors down from a Chinese buffet, where the egg drop soup isn't bad. A hint of black pepper, which makes it interesting. Also, it's conveniently close to several other decent places, so when I go on nights, I can stop by on the way in and pick up dinner.

There's probably more, but it's been a long day, and I'm a little brain-fried. Happy, though.
