- CHARACTER INFORMATION
NAME: Juliet van Heusen
CODENAME:
SERIES/SOURCE: Wizards of Waverly Place
AGE: 16
GENDER: Female
ROLE: Student
BACKGROUND:
Born into a mutant family, Juliet’s parents weren’t surprised when she started showing signs of her mutant abilities. Alucard and Cindy van Heusen raised their daughter in the suburbs of New York before moving to the city when she was about to enter High School. They opened a sandwich shop called “The Late Nite Bite” a few blocks down from a competing shop named “Waverly Sub Station”.
While in school, Juliet was a huge fan of history, often excelling in that class more than any of her other subjects. When she wasn’t at school, she was at home studying or helping out around the sandwich shop.
Juliet distanced herself from the other kids at school because she was afraid they’d find out about her mutant powers and ostracize her. However, when the eldest son of their competitors began spying on their shop, he managed to break through her shell with his adorable insecurities and geek-ish tendencies. But before Juliet could manage to talk her parents into allowing her to date him, or see him more often, they announced that they were sending her to Xavier Institute in order to help her hone her mutant powers.
PERSONALITY:
Despite her father’s tendencies to over react, Juliet gained more of her personality from her mother. She is a very down-to-earth and kind girl, even if she can be a little withdrawn. She tends to keep to herself in classes unless someone manages to break her shell and get her to act a little more naturally. Juliet adores World History and learning about the past, through which she has also expressed a small interest in Drama.
Once she breaks out of her shell, Juliet can be a real jokester. She loves cracking jokes all the time and uses a lot of dead-pan humor in day-to-day life. Because of her mutant powers, she sometimes jokes about being a modern-day vampire, and will insinuate that she’s “allergic” to the sun, among other things. While she would never admit it to any stranger, she is also a large fan of science fiction and fantasy genres, as well as comic books. She can easily hold her own in a conversation about them if she chooses to do so, though she’ll normally hide this aspect of herself.
Juliet can be prone to mild bouts of jealousy, since it takes her a while to truly open up with her feelings, she becomes jealous when others manage it so easily. Hand-in-hand with her tendency to withdraw, Juliet often has a poor self image or low self confidence. She hopes that by getting a grip on her powers will help dispel these tendencies.
APPEARANCE:
Juliet is about 5’6’’ and has a slender frame, emphasized by her lack of any real muscles. She’s not physically strong in any sense of the word. Her face is a bit fuller and almost doll-like, with large brown eyes. Much to her amusement, her canine teeth are a bit more pronounced than most people’s and she uses this to her advantage when she jokes about being a vampire.
She maintains her fair complexion by staying out of the sun for long periods of time. Her golden blonde hair reaches just past her shoulder blades and she usually keeps it tucked behind her ears and curled into loose ringlets. To add to her very doll-like look, she often wears skirts and nice blouses, with flats more often than heeled shoes.
POWERS: Energy draining by touching the object or person. Juliet dislikes using her abilities, however, and refrains from doing so. As such, when she does attempt to take energy, she has a hard time gauging how much should be taken. She can manipulate the energy into corporeal weapons, but isn’t aware of this ability yet.
ANYTHING ELSE?: Much like a vampire needs blood, Juliet needs energy to stay conscious. Since she’s afraid of hurting other people, she drains small amounts of energy from inanimate objects. Her powers are not Rogue-level, to the point where she’ll knock someone unconscious or nearly kill them if she takes too much energy. Her body can’t hold that much extra energy, but she’s not really aware of this.
- RP SAMPLES
First-person sample:
So this was my parent’s answer for my ‘forbidden romance’? Sending me off to a school a few hours away? This is absolutely ridiculous. Oh well, I guess I should just go ahead and make myself comfortable. I’m Juliet van Heusen, just arrived really. I’m pretty excited, actually, to start learning more, so I can’t hold my parents completely at fault.
Third-person sample:
Juliet shifted in place, staring at her reflection in the mirror. First day jitters: something she absolutely despised about starting somewhere new. She smoothed out her skirt and primped her hair a little, letting out a soft sigh. Maybe her parents were right, maybe she’d meet someone new here. Maybe she’d make friends. But the young mutant almost wanted to prove them wrong and refuse to make any new friends, just to shove it in their face later.
At least here she didn’t have to worry about being different. Everyone here was different. Without stalling anymore, she grabbed her schedule and started off to her first class, winding her way through the halls, only stopping a couple of times to ask for directions. History, at least she was starting off this place with her favorite subject. “Sorry I’m late,” she murmured, ducking into the classroom. “I got a little lost.”
