Dude! The BBC Radio version of Troilus and Cressida is up online. Go listen!

It's one of my favourite Shakespeare plays and I've finally got to hear a performance. Yay! I'm not sure why I love it so. It's probably because I love reworkings of literary traditions and this brings in Homer and Chaucer. Doomed lovers in the Trojan war, but it's not melodramatic. It's cynical and bitchy, bringing legendary heroes down to earth without descending to cariacature. It's one of Shakespeare's most modern plays in tone, and I'm constantly fascinated by it. Give it a listen (although I found a copy of the play text was handy just because I'm not good at listening to radio plays and keeping track of who's who. Here, try this if you want.)
