His basement was dank, dark and scary, and he was a madman - not a genius, like everyone thought. The expression 'Skeletons in the closet' was both literal and accurate in his case. No one knew the horrible secrets locked away in the pits of 29 Floret dr. No one knew that Dr. B. Longfellow abducted girls, had his way with them and then turned them into little science expreiments. Torture. Who would notice? They were runaways, abused, stupid - street trash. These girls did not matter, science mattered.

Kaye was missing a rib, and she was chained to Beth. Her breathing was fast and shallow because it hurt to function. To live.
Dana huddled in a spider-infested corner, hot tears slid down her cheeks. Her scalp was bald and peeling.
She was such a pretty girl.
Amyranth and Suzie and Nikki and Jessica were resting slumped over on each other, they had no eyes. Eyes were important to Dr. Longfellow. What would you need eyes for down there anyway? To see? No. You didn't need eyes for becoming a monstrocity, you could feel that all too well.

Beth's head lolled to the side. It hurt so badly and she knew there was something missing, but she kept forgetting what it was. Her eyes rolled back and caught glimpse of Kay. Beth smiled a simple toothy smile as hot liquid slid down between her legs and made a dark pool on the cement floor.
Kaye winced back at Beth and waved her hand a bit. The moans and groans of several others in the basment sounded against the peeling walls, and Kaye cried.

'My sister, I am chained to you. I'll love you forever, even if you can't remember that.'

She stopped crying abruptly, as if she'd never started. Dr. Longfellow was comming down the stairs.

'If only,' she thought. 'If only I had my tongue.'

I am still working on that Alise and the Glow.
