more than likely this will not be enough to personify my year, nor will i ever finish this list
Soundtrack to 2005
The year 2005 is coming to a close. What better way to remember it than creating a soundtrack to your life in 2005? Create a collection of songs that were significant to you for this year, whether it makes you remember the good times or the bad times, and write a brief explanation of why it's important. If possible, upload the songs so your fellow LJ friends can listen to what made you tick this year.
yeah, and dont think i'm gonna be nice enough to upload them for you, tough luck kiddies
1. Green Day "Give me Novacaine"
i really could pick any song from the American Idiot album, last new year's eve, i was laying upstairs in bed and green day came on MTV's iced out new years eve (or what-the-hell-ever) and i looked at Billie Joe Armstrong and was like "you know what, they are a freaking fabulous band" and from that day on, this whole year has been me, re-discovering my love for green day
this song was always there when i didn't know what else to play, it calmed me down and sort of provided some sort of escape from school pressures or social stress or whatnot, yeah, i'm done talking about this awesome song, enjoy it
2. Trick Daddy "Sugar"
a night of driving with courtney singing this song comes to mind, that was one of the best nights ever
3. Coldplay "A message"
this is the first song i listened to on the cruise after i recieved the phone message from courtney, it fit for the moment, and every time i hear it, i feel that, guilt mixed with fear mixed with relief and more guilt, that was a rough vacation to enjoy
4. Bright Eyes "Easy/Lucky/Free"
perfect closing to their concert in June with Patricia and Amanda, a very powerful song that kept me thankful through everything that happened
5. "Shout"
from green day in april to sadie hawkins in december, this song made me feel connected to everyone around me , totally keeps me up and jumping and it makes me feel alive
6. Death Cab for Cutie "Crooked teeth"
this year would be incomplete without noting my obsession with death cab, this song reminded me not to think too hard about everything, and to further underline the theme for the 2005-2006 school year "it's the man bringing you down" or "break the system"
7. Elton John "my father's gun"
thank the elizabethtown soundtrack for bringing this into my life, i cried the first time i heard it, honestly
8. The Faint "Take me to the hospital"
morbid to put this on here, but it's just the right mix of synth. and sadism to make me love it, not to mention this line: i scraped up my face, bounced my cheek on the floor, because anything worth doing it worth getting hurt for
9. Pink Floyd "Wish you were here"
patricia, courtney, this song reminds me of you and all the fun drug-free times we had
10. Fall out Boy "Grand Theft Autumn"
the first song to reach over 100 plays on my iTunes, it does it for me everytime
11. Bloc Party "The pioneers"
bianca: do you listen to bloc party?
me: YES! I DO!
we promised the world we'd tame it, what were we hoping for?
12. The Killers "All these things that i've done"
standing on the second level with the drunk people in the USF sundome with my best friends and some other kids we don't know, screaming and dancing to this song like there was no tomorrow, yeah, that's why this is on here
13. Ok Go "Let it rain"
lovelovelovelove this album (x 100000000) and this song is just mellow enough to make me sing "halelujah"
14. The Postal Service "Such Great Heights"
the first song i played the first time i drove by myself
15. Goo Goo Dolls "James Dean"
the first (and one of only a few) i learned by myself to play on the guitar, with courtney too
16. Tiziano Ferro "Sere Nere"
proof that music transcends language as well, saw this performance late one night on MTV and i've been in love with the song ever since
17. Nickel Creek "When in Rome"
plane ride to paris, this song on repeat, you know what they say, when in rome [or paris]....pretend like you're not an american
18. Coldplay "Warning sign"
another infinite song, this one will be on every list forever
19. The Beatles "Here comes the sun"
song of hope, i put this on at least 3 vry important mix cd's this year
20. Green Day "Jesus of Suburbia"
i could post this whole song as evidence as to why i love it so dearly, but it would be best for you to just enjoy it for yourself
21. The Police "Message in a bottle"
who doesn't love this song? and all it's incredible messages, best covered by John Mayer
22. the streets "Fit but you know it"
driving to clearwater beach with patricia and steph and this song blasting, that, my friends, was a fun time
23. bianca and mine'sunfinished song
written after seeing thiscamefromhighschool
a tisket, a tasket, i'm lying in my casket, oh no, i'm so emo, my fucking name is nemo, i really wanna scream-o
i love you, bianca
24. the long winters "cinnamon"
amazing
25. bright eyes "land locked blues"
greed is a bottomless pit, and if freedom's a joke, we're just taking the piss
you cannot go wrong with this song
i guess i'm done for now guys, but until next year, be safe, have a blast, take a breathe and live
