Amanda Waller and the Phoenix Gambit

Feb 02, 2010 21:46

Partly for halfamoon, partly since it's Black History Month, partly just because I love her, I present to you the story of Amanda Waller's arrest and her glorious rise from the ashes, smacking Batman around along the way.

Lots of images, most of them old scans, which makes reading some of the text difficult.

There's nothing about this post that I don't love. I'm at #35 right now (the Suicide Squad Fandango at Apokolips) and holy shit Amanda Waller not hesitating to fight Granny Goodness!

So I'm really close to this story arc I can't wait *_*

"Later I should do an entry entitled "Why having Catman treat him like an animal and defeat him is totally bullshit and racist."

DO ITTTT.

Which reminds me: as a Suicide Squad!n00b, I would like to know why Bronze Tiger is wearing a tiger head in Blackest Night Suicide Squad when I haven't seen him sport it once.

The Apokolips arc is amazing. I love the Lashina decided to just stick around the squad for funsies. Amanda Waller: So awesome even the Furies respect her ( ... )

The more I read of her, the more compelling I find her. Hopefully the first classic Suicide Squad collection will be out this summer to make her story accessible to a larger audience.

Oh very cool...I admit I know Amanda Waller mostly from her JLU appearance and that bit in JLI when Max Lord was flirting with her, and of course last night's Smallville. One badass lady.

She really is. I love that the writers were bold enough to make a black, female character their Nick Fury or M equivalent. Sadly, I can't see that happening today with a new character. The conservative backlash in media makes me disappointed with the world.
